Biography:
Michael Ryan Pritchard who is known as Mike Dirnt was born in May of 1972. The way that he got his last name Dirnt was when he was in school and couldn’t practice the bass he made the sound Dirnt, Dirnt. Mike Dirnt’s family life was very bad when he was growing up. Mike was put up for adoption at six months of age because his original mother was a heroin addict. Mike was adopted to a Native American mother and a white father. When Mike was seven years old his adoptive parents got divorced. Mike lived with his father for a few years but then Mike was sent back to his mother. Mike lived on the border of poverty, while his step sister, Myla left home at age 13. Mike said, “There were all sorts of things happening”. “When I was in fourth or fifth grade, my mom stayed out all night, came home the next day with a guy, and he moved in. I’d never met the guy before, and all of a sudden he’s my step dad. We didn’t get along for years. Later on, when I hit high school, my mom moved away from us, and I and my step dad got real close. He instilled a lot in me. The one thing my family did give me is blue-collar morals. But then he died when I was 17.”
Mike married his longtime girlfriend Anastasia in 1996. Since the pressures of Green Day was too much for Anastasia the couple separated so today Mike and Anastasia are still very good friends. Mike got remarried in 2004, but Mike’s wife left him. The reason that his wife left him was because she said that Mike spent too much time in the studio. Mike is now dating.
Mike has one daughter who he had when he was married to Anastasia. Mikes daughter is named Estella-Desiree whose nickname is “Hero”. Mike loves to be around his daughter as much as possible because Mike loves his daughter very much as every father should!
Mike’s life might have a few glitches in it but now he is one of the most famous bass players in the world! Green Day is now Mike’s family and Mike will always be loved by all of the Green Day fans around the world! Mike Dirnt isn’t just a bass player in a band he is a role model for the world! Mike has shown that whatever problem that you are in you can dig out of them in some way!
